I'm really happy about it and I can't wait to start reading the book to improve the communication with my reactive crazy agility dog. I haven't yet reached the end, but the the advice and training exercises so far are having a good effect, and I'm very pleased.McDevitt gives step-by-step instructions on how to teach these, which include doggie zen, leave it, the whiplash turn, targeting, and going to place.

So, definitely a must-have for any aficionados of the CU systm (and I really think everyone would benefit from these books, to one degree or another). This book was recommended by a friend who thought it could help overcome problems I have with one of my dogs. In this classic book, Dog Behaviour Consultant Leslie McDevitt provides us with a programme to help ‘dogs with issues’ learn how to relax, focus and work reliability off lead in a distracting, stimulating or stressful environment. that after achieving 10 titles, reading a thousand training books, dvds, training under a myriad of trainers etc. Not only does this make a lot of intuitive sense to me -- athough I never in a million years would have seen it that way on my own -- I have also found that just keeping those concepts in mind has let me be a lot more effective when taking my "project dog" to exciting or difficult places, and he's responded really really well, although I could not tell you *exactly* what I've done differently. Though the book was targeted to agility instructors, McDevitt offers practical, useable advice for all instructors and the handlers of reactive dogs. I haven't competed in agility, but it struck me that at a dog show it was the agility dogs that truly impressed me.
