About this deal

Or maybe the couple next door - with their messy entanglement to the parents of the missing baby are the kidnappers? Or maybe the the entire neighborhood is guilty? Normalmente suelo tener un gran problema en las novelas de misterio, y es que no me suelen convencer las razones o los desenlaces. En este caso la verdad es que estoy bastante satisfecho, y el final es de esos que te hacen tener ganas de aplaudir. Maravilloso. I was looking forward to reading this, having read a previous novel ‘the birthing house’ by Christopher Ransom, I thought this book would hold its own, but boy was I wrong.

Well, what can I say? This book was truly gripping. It was hard to know who to trust, and in fact poses the question "How well do you really know ANYONE"? Do you really know the inner workings of someone else's mind, real deep down, where dark thoughts may lurk and take shape? I just couldn't predict what was coming next, as the plot took off in various directions, with twist after twist. It was quite simply, brilliant! I thought I was going to enjoy my first foray with Tony Parsons as it began as an intriguing slow burning psychological thriller. I thought secrets would be uncovered, mysteries would be solved...but instead everything ends up a convoluted mess and stretching credibility and believability beyond belief. I know as readers we must often suspend belief...but seriously? Having read The Birthing House and, I admit to having being intrigued by it, if confused by the finale, I thought I would give his third novel a go, despite being 'harangued' by fellow readers not to...... Benjamin and his sister Virginia set off my creeper alarm almost immediately. Ellie meets Benjamin at the veterinarian’s office when she brings in the dog she hit with her car. They strike up a conversation and realize they are neighbors, so Ellie befriends him. The more he comes around, the more creepy he seems. It doesn’t take me long to realize he’s obsessed with Ellie and it seems like he’s always finding an excuse to come over. As creepy as he appears, he also seems harmless. His sister, on the other hand, comes across as even more creepier. She’s mentally ill, doesn’t verbalize and never leaves the house. Ellie tries to interact with her but is unsuccessful.I started laughing - - (to myself of course --my husband was sleeping)...when the character, Anne, had a 'cleaning episode' moment. I enjoyed the narrator and thought she pulled off the creepiness in the book. This made my time driving from here to there more enjoyable! There's another point of view that is at first a mystery, but as the story develops we discover who the mysterious narrator is. This was very interesting, as it appears to be telling a different story, but as you read on, the different points of view come together and the mystery is cleared up. Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how disappointed I am after finishing this. I am a huge fan of Tony Parsons' books and have enjoyed a few of them but this just didn't do it for me in any way, shape or form and for that, I am extremely sad.

I never understood many of the scenes. I had to pause to make sure i remembered everything i had read previously and haven't missed out anything. But looks like it's the writer himself who might have missed out a lot. The concept, as a reader, seems quite promising. But it failed miserably. It could have been fabricated a little better. This is my second book from Christopher Ransom, 'The birthing house' had eventuated just the same. i felt like giving him a second chance because his writing style may be muddled but is pretty enticing too. When odd and distressing events start occurring, Ellie gets a little spooked. One night while Ash is away on business, something horrible happens to Ellie. Can she stay strong and get out of her dire situation? Though much suspense and a rollercoaster of emotions, we find out. There's just no words really to describe how much I LOVED this book. Tony Parson has moved his way up to be one of my favourite authors, and if you read this book he will be one of yours too!

T. C. A. Raghavan illuminates the main events of this tumultuous dynamic through the eyes and words of key players and contemporary observers. He exposes how, in both countries, this shared past is seen through radically different prisms; how history keeps resurfacing, with unavoidable resonance, to this day. Benjamin is the perfect neighbour and his Sister Virginia, well she may be a tad odd but she is harmless…they both are Evie and Pete have been together since university and are settled into life," says Eleanor, 31. "Evie’s brilliant with children and wants to be a mum herself. Potentially offensive content includes language and violence. I thought the foul language was excessive and really took away from the story. It didn't fit the characters at all. Evie (Eleanor Tomlinson) and Pete (Alfred Enoch) in The Couple Next Door. The buildup is a little slow at first, but the atmosphere is very edgy and I admit I fell into the author’s clever trap, playing along with what appeared to be the usual child kidnap case, with the parents being suspected and all those delicious skeletons falling out of the closet. But, I never could have guessed how it would all play out. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it, although 'enjoy' is maybe too string a word. I kept reading because, like with The Birthing House' I wanted to know the end, the answer, the mystery, and although the ending was better than with The Birthing House, it was flat. Anne and Marco return home at one in the morning and to their horror discover the front door open, the crib empty and Cora nowhere in sight. The police are called and so this dreadful piece of writing continues. How well do you know your neighbors? The People Next Door looks at this age-old question as Ellie and her boyfriend Ash move into a charming home in the English countryside. Not long after their arrival, things turn darker than she could have expected. The house is isolating- the friendly man next door and his troubled sister the only people around, and there are secrets hidden seemingly everywhere.

But their new neighbours - these charming, affluent men and women in the Gardens - have secrets of their own. Nobody makes that much money without taking advantage of somebody. It's much easier to make money if you don't care who you hurt. If you have scruples, it's much harder to get rich” Our intelligent-eyed detective goes next door to speak to Cynthia and Graham. Cynthia is described thus: Lana and Roman Wade are a young professional couples who have escaped unsafe and hectic London for a slower paced life in the idyllic Oxfordshire countryside. They move to an affluent area called "The Gardens" where the neighbours are friendly and tight-knit unlike in London. Whilst Roman relishes the move, Lana isn't so keen. There's something off about her neighbours and they seem to have secrets to hide... When they return from the party it is their worst nightmare. Cora has been kidnapped - who could have taken her, and why?
